Britain charged that the U.S. participated in the program, aimed at obtaining information from suspected terrorists.
UN Special Rapporteur Martin Scheinin said that he was “deeply concerned” with the way the Americans treat suspected in terrorist activities.
These include the secret detention of a suspect, sending them to other countries in special CIA prisons, as well as the practice of interrogation which violate the prohibition on torture.
The report, Martin Scheinin emphasizes that the United States could do so only with the assistance of its allies – Britain, Georgia, Canada, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Indonesia, Kenya and Pakistan.
UN Special Rapporteur pointed out that States are responsible for the violation of human rights if they knowingly assisted in the other states.
Scheinin expressed concern about the provisions of British law on state secrets, which help hide the illegal actions of the supervisory bodies or legal institutions “and to avoid punishment.
In connection with the report of the UN representative of the Liberal Democratic Party, Britain's Edward Dave said: “The shame that we must now rely on international organizations to support the rule of law in our own country”.
Some members of the British Parliament demanded an investigation into the involvement of British secret services in the interrogation and torture of a resident Britain Binyama Mohamad.
