ROME, March 29 – RIA Novosti, Elizabeth Zorina. The Summit of Ministers of Labor and Social Development (Social Summit ) for the Big Eight on world financial and economic crisis, has opened in Rome on Sunday, transmits RIA Novosti correspondent.

The summit began with a meeting with representatives of the organizers of trade unions and employers.

In subsequent days of the Summit will be divided into three plenary sessions. The first session will be devoted to the specific consequences of crisis in the G8, it will open speech the Secretary General of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), Angel Gurría.

The second session will be opened by an address by Director General of ILO Juan Somavia. In this part of the meeting, in addition to the countries G8 – Italy, Britain, Canada, Germany, Russia, United States, France and Japan – will be attended by the state, members of the Group of Five – Brazil, India, China, Mexico, South Africa and Egypt. The focus of this session will be devoted to long-term consequences of the crisis.

At the opening of the third session by the first deputy director of IMF John Lipski. It will be devoted to the human dimension of globalization and social welfare policies.

Summit organizers stress that it will be an opportunity to discuss the steps the individual countries and joint action to address the social impact of the crisis at the international level.

The Minister of Labor, Social Development Health and the Italian Maurizio Sakkoni informed in advance of the meeting that Rome will propose the adoption of the Global Social Pact.
